Q: My third and final keeper spot comes down to Laveranues Coles, Domanick Davis or Willis McGahee. I originally thought Coles would be my keeper so that I would have a strong player at the three major positions, but he did not have the season I thought he would. Davis was a waiver wire pickup, and I picked up McGahee the last week of the season in a "why not?" type of move. Any thoughts?

A: Coles is a quality receiver, and I'm not too worried about his slow finish. His foot injury combined with the team's poor quarterback play and nonexistent running game made it tough for him to excel. New coach Joe Gibbs will get things straightened out and allow Coles to return to being a top 15 receiver. Is that enough to make him a third-round keeper? Tickets

If given the choice, I think I would rather take my chances with Davis. Houston's offense will keep improving behind David Carr, and Davis has the potential to be a top rushing-receiving threat. It also is nice to keep a pair of running backs because of the scarcity of elite talent at the position. With wide receivers, there will be a few players taken in the seventh or eighth round who outperform the guys taken in the third and fourth. It's rarer for that to happen with running backs.

It wasn't a bad idea to add McGahee just in case the Bills move Travis Henry to open a spot for him. If that happens, you will need to reconsider your choice. Until then, plan on going with Davis.
